Nobody remembers the other Oz or Anne of Green Gables novels.

Oh, and that there was a sequel to Alice's Adventures In Wonderland.

The weird thing is, many people are aware there's a character called "Ozma", but don't know she debuted in an Oz book.

Most people are only aware of the Wizard of Oz movie.

What?  Nobody has ever heard of Return to Oz?
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
I wouldn't say 'nobody', but it's not exactly widespread.
  • Woki mit deim Popo.
I don't know, the Oz seem to very in the former Soviet bloc as the Tales of Magic Land.
  • no longer cuddly, but still Edmond
I know about the books, I just can't get into them.

I have a slightly amusing story about Return to Oz though. A friend of mine spent the weekend, and he brought the movie. Unfortunately, I fell sick and spent most of the weekend sleeping, but he watched the movie anyway while I slept (or sometimes pseudo-slept) there on the sofa. So I didn't see any of it, but I heard bits and pieces.

The whole time, I thought "Wow, what kind of fucked-up movie is this?"

Sigh... unfortunately I got up and actually looked at it, near the end, and absolutely nothing was as impressive as it looked in my imagination. Especially the Clockwork Man. It's hard to describe what I thought he would look like, but I should've known there was no way they'd pull it off.

They made us watch Return to Oz in class in fourth grade.  :l
