Despite what they've done to make space travel possible and despite all the inventions and discoveries they've made, NASA is still treated as if they're nothing more than a massive PR stunt, an example of "wasteful government spending", or a particularly expensive branch of the military. They're always underbudgeted and they're at the mercy of people who have different ideas of what NASA should be and who get replaced every few years.
So they decide to do a little PR stunt of their own. They whip up a video game in UDK and release it for free on Steam, hoping they can keep people interested in space travel instead of ignoring its earthly contributions and saying "Why don't we solve our problems on Earth first?". That game is Moonbase Alpha. But instead, players of Moonbase Alpha spend their time sitting around in the lobby and typing

As hilarious as these videos are, NASA didn't deserve this.

V No, you don't understand. This is all people in the game do.
As for the videos...yeah, what Magus said.
Upon encountering text-to-speech, the first things that happen are:
1. "fuck" "shit" "dick" "ass" "cunt" "hell" "damn" "nigger" "spic" "fag" "dyke" etc.
2. nonsense words
Why are you surprised?
NASA tries to do sonething noble.
The ignorant and worthless masses shit all over it in return.
My statement is an overreaction, I'll admit.
Quint totally isn't obscure at all.
And Enker.
@Everest: I was talking to Nyktos, asking if the Nyktos I friended is this Nyktos.
Do you have any non-free games on Steam?

For some reason the second video doesn't amuse me that much, but the first one does.

....it's not that fun a game. At all. It's fun for about 1 or 2 rounds, then maybe you try to beat your times and then you just give up, turn on the text-to-speech option, and type random things in an attempt to hear the program mispronounce them in the silliest ways while trying to flip a rover over and abuse the physics engine.
Gentlemen, we just did SCIENCE.
