Anime Filler Is Bad

You know, if it wasn't for filler, I'd never watch Anime that are based on Manga. I know a lot of the time it's utter shit because it's made quickly to stall for time. But what's wrong with a few extra story arcs? I mean, honestly what is the point in watching a cartoon if it's exactly the same as the comic? I know I sure as hell wouldn't, I'd just read the comic!

And I don't care what any one says, Garlic Jr. is awesome.

    Filler is not bad as long as the myth arc is not the center of it all, basically.

    Honestly I'm tired of arc-based stories. Isn't one of the advantages of serial fiction that you can have a bunch of short stories with the same character?

    I like the best when it's balanced. When I can enjoy both a fun romp where I can see characters at their finest, and get hints for an overaching plot that propells the things forward and helps develop the characters as well.

    The thing is, so many shows are doing arcs when they don't have the chops for it and should just stick with three-act hour-long shows. Hell, it's infecting sitcoms. God forbid I miss an important episode of How I Met Your Mother.

    Also, asuka's counterpart in Haruhi Suzumiya is well, Haruhi suzumiya.
