Why can't it be monosyllabic like the other single-digit numbers? It throws off my rhythm when I try to count, especially quickly.

I generally just say "sev" if I'm trying to count quickly.

I use "sev" as well, though I have to consciously remember to go from "sev" to "eight" or else I end up couting "sev" and "en" as two numbers.

Seven is a sexy number. Oddly I've always disliked numbers like 2, 3, 6, or 8, the curvy ones, 5 and 9 being exceptions.

But I love 1 and 7.

In my mind, 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 are male; 2, 4, and 8 are female, and 6 is androgynous.

I've always thought that, but I don't know why.

I've never thought of numbers as female or male. On the other hand, 1 is white with some red, 3 is yellow, 5 is pinkish, 7 is bright yellow and white, and 9 is sky blue.

2 is a combination of greens, browns, and blues. 4 is green and brown. 6 is darker shades of blue and purple, and 8 is green of a medium shade.

0 is part clear and part white.
