My laptop's hard drive just started making that scratching noise.

One foot in front of the other, every day.
Well shit.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Sure it's not the fan? Laptops do have more than one spinny thing.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
Well, it seems to have stopped now. Perhaps it was the fan. Hmm. Best get on to backing up, just in case.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Always a good idea either way.

You know, I just realized that with my SSD, there wouldn't be any indication if it was about to die...
  • >Never owned a laptop.

    >is all the more better for it.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
You're probably right, Clocky. Laptops are more trouble than they're worth. -_-
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Yeah, I haven't used my laptop since I got a good tower.

He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.
The scratching noise sometimes just indicate a bad positioning relative to the earth's gravity.

And I disagree, they are good.
  • You can change. You can.
Yeah, laptops are good if you know how to take care of them. Clean them up everyonce in a while, check for the ventilators at the end of the month, etc
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
See, you seem to have bought a laptop that was well-built.
  • He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.
    Asus.
  • You can change. You can.
Mine is an HP. Supposedly an abyss of quality. And not gonna lie, it's a bit demanding, but worth it. --shrug--

I mean, it does what I want it to do. As I don't do much beyond watching movies, write text and edit images, then it's a simple worthwhile investment. If I wanted to play a PC game in here, I'd be fucked, though. Although I can play early ones like Half Life and even some recent ones like TF2 fairly well. It's just that I don't feel good using a mouse and a keyboard while gaming. Too alien for me.
  • ASUS sucks. I should know, I've owned two.

My ASUS hasn't sucked for me, but it doesn't run games, as I don't usually play PC games, this is not a drawback.
  • ^ My ASUS can't download anything higher than 2 gb
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
The computer I built has ASUS parts in it and they've served pretty well, but I can't comment on their actual computers.

I've never tried to download anything bigger than 1.5 GB in this computer, I will have to try sometime.
