  I think you could say the same thing about things you have said when you were feeling particularly sad or haughty too. I feel like one of the toughest parts of realizing that what you said before was really dumb is that pretty much all you can do is either apologize or sit around thinking about how stupid you were before.
  
  I think saying you are sorry can be pretty hard if not impossible depending on the context. In some situations I wonder if it does not make the situation a bit worse even if it might be the right thing to do. I mean, if everyone else forgot about what you did or were not really paying attention, going back and reminding them might bring a pretty negative reaction.

  Is why I generally don't get angry any more.... 
  I spend all that time being thoroughly miserable instead. 
  
  That said, despite lack of anger, I got violent this morning. I reasoned it through, concluded that violence was not only justified but necessary for the sake of my quality of life (at least for the next 10 minutes or so)... and proceeded to kick a chav into the corner on the bus until he finally turned his stupid phone-noise off.
