Aroumd two weeks before Black and White is released, Serebii releases photos of what he claims are the 5th generation's starters' final evolutions. /vp/ doesn't like what they see, so they decide he's lying. Cue 2 weeks of nonstop "SEREBII CONFIRMED SEREBII CONFIRMED XDDD" and "WHY DIDN'T MY GASTRODON EVOLVE INTO A LAPRAS, SEREBII?" and posting pictures that "prove" the starters are just modified sprites of other pokemon. Serebii and Archaic (the founder of Bulbapedia) go on /vp/ to vouch for the picture's authenticity. They tell them both that they're liars with no credibility and to GTFO. Meanwhile, they'll latch onto any person that tells /vp/ what they want to hear, even if it's stuff like "The water starter really is named Wotter!", even while Archaic tears these fakers a new one. Black and White is released in Japan. Serebii was right. /vp/ quietly pretends they never doubted Serebii and goes back to their pokeporn and Garybombing. This bugs me.

    In other words, I have seen almost 0 little kids revel in the enjoyment of pokemon in my hometown. Most of the ones I know think it's gay. Only the 20+ year olds even give it a chance, since the only people who would have had nostalgia from it were the ones from my grad-year.

    I'm one of the only one of my peers who has yet to get Black and White. Somehow, this makes me sad.

    And that's terrible.
