Old People

Glaives are better.
I'm trying to find work, and all the jobs teenagers get have been taken by baby boomers.

They start wars for us to die in. They try to censor our entertainment. They drive up the cost of living. They invest in idiotic things like fake gold and sub-prime mortgages, then cry and whine when they get ripped off - and end up causing an economic recession in the process. They drive up medical costs and insurance costs. They create an unconstitutional pyramid scheme that steals from entire generations of Americans in order to make up for their lack of planning for retirement, and then they have the BALLS to whine about not having enough money when they retire early. They even screw up our politics with their backwards-ass morals and Old People Union. Then they make the taxpayers foot the bill. I've had it. I'm mad.

But right now, the biggest thing that pisses me off is this: THEY TOOK OUR JOBS!

Comments

  • Isn't it more like they already had all the jobs leaving not enough for us?
  • Glaives are better.
They already had the better jobs, but now they've destroyed their old jobs and taken jobs usually reserved for teenagers and Mexicans!

    THEY TOOK OUR JOBS!

Teenagers tend to be taken care of to an excessive extent by either parents or the law, so I don't see a reason as to why they should need a job.

Unless you're counting 18+ as teenager here.

Old people don't work at Hot Topic, Salon en Salad, PerfectMania, or Licks and Kicks, so I think  I am good.
  • Glaives are better.
You work and/or shop there? You're braver than I thought.

For some reason those things never seen to grant eternal youth to videogame characters...

Then again I don't often see aging video game characters anyway...

Yes, Hot Topic has nice pants, and a good health scheme around them.

They make their pants extremely hard to fit into for a reason. For one, it stops fat people from buying them and getting blood-clots or muscle complications from them which would lead to frivolous lawsuits, and motivates people to lose weight and stay fit in order to be able to fit them properly.

Salon en Salad is a nice pretty person salad shop that only haute people can go to.

Licks and Kicks is an awesome lingerie store.

Vorpy, you make me aroused and confused. Please stop. Or go on. I can't decide.

Whatever you do, please know that I disapprove.

^^^The good thing about having a nearby alternative clothing store that isn't controlled by the latest anti-trend is that they have stock that humans can wear. It's still overpriced as hell, though.

    Hatter,

(I wish I had a "can't tell if serious one" because I would probably use that instead).

Anyway, this kind of thing reminds me of at least one political site that I read where complaining about elderly people being selfish, dumb, and conservative was fairly common. Of course, that was complicated by the fact that some of the people who commented there were actually themselves older which in turn just led to more conflict.

Basically, I think that such generalizations are harmful since they do not really respect the individuality of a person and instead lump all of the people in a certain age cohort into a certain group. Criticizing older people like this just reminds me of the rhetoric about teenagers being dumb and worthless. While one could kind of justify the latter statement by pointing to how teenagers are still mentally developing,  I do not know that one could say the same thing about older people.

I feel similarly about this stuff about "Generation X" and such. I really do not think there is much unity among people of different generations, but I guess I could be wrong about that

I also remember someone in real life going on a rant about how he/she did not want to go to a nursing home because old people were stupid and icky and such. That seems really silly to me because I do not think that is the case at all.
