When people make fun of people who act like I did when I first came on the forums

Such as Chagen and Ukonviki.

It makes me uncomfortable.

  • It's not like I'm going to respect someone less if I find out they grew out of a state of severe immaturity.

    Loser
    Myrmidon,

I feel similarly, but I would substitute "when people make fun of people" in for "when people make fun of people who act like I did when I first came on the forums" part. Making fun of other people just bothers me in general.
  • Oh, so that's why you were so eager to defend Chagen.

Personally, if a newbie acted as immature as I did, I become even more critical of them because I am intimately familiar with how stupid I used to be.

  • I hate most people who act like me in general. So it all works out.

Because you never know what you might see.
This is partly why I am bothered a bit when anybody complains about Tongpu, Love Happiness or Savage Heathen.
  • I see a lot of myself in Chagen and Love Happiness, so I try not to make fun of them.

(Though I would gladly make fun of my past-self, given the chance)
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    I do't think I act much differently.
  • This is actually why I am uncomfortable around Radd: he reminds me of myself sometimes.

  • You can change. You can.
I haven't found a poster who is like me when I started. So...um...yeah.
  • ^ What were you like when you started?
  • You can change. You can.
I don't know...I'd say that I was too eager to be liked and my jokes were a bit too over the top (ALL CAPS and puns and stuff)

And lots of typos and grammar fail. I'd actually say that posting in TvT helped my English. A lot.
  • I don't think I've ever been consistent enough for people to remind me of my older days in the forum. Which doesn't mean I am not sometimes uncomfortable at the harsh treatment some younger posters get, but that's not the topic.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
I don't remember how I acted when I first came to the fora.
  • Thirding Chagen.
  • a little muffled
Chagen reminds me of me in the past, but long before I joined TV Tropes.

Me when I joined TV Tropes was...basically me now, except slightly less mature?
  • You can change. You can.
^ Me too. On both accounts, actually.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
^^ Me too, again. It's why he was so easy to troll during the whole "forum racist" thing. I knew exactly which buttons to push.

Sorry, Chuggles. It was pretty awful to troll that consistently, but it was hella fun.
  • I'm a damn twisted person
Eh, personally I would say a newbie has about 1 month of regular posting as a free mulligan. Time to work out the rules(written and implied) of the forum, the cliques and the general feel. If they continue to act like a dumbass after that grace period, well too bad for them.
  • I have this in reverse: I despise some of the alienated, forever-alone tropers because I fear becoming like them, though there's really not a logical reason why this would happen.
