    Well, I was under the impression that the Colbert Report was more pure satire (i.e. guy pretending to be a Conservative strawman) while The Daily Show was more news with humor. I can definitely see how one could like one and dislike another based off of that fact for the same reason that some prefer impressions of people or prop related comedy to traditional stand up comedy.

    Another reason may be that one just finds Colbert to be funnier than Stewart. Personally, I do not really watch either show though I guess I prefer the Colbert Report from what I have seen of it.

    I guess the styles or whatever are different enough. I just figure the subject matter and the humor are close enough that if you like one, you'd probably be able to appreciate the other.

    Okay, maybe I can articulate this better now.

    It's fine if people think Colbert is better than Mr. Daily. And I guess it would be okay if someone found the differences to be so striking that due to their tastes, they would watch one to the exclusion of the other.

    But that seems suspect since the format and humor is so similar. It also seems that people may be thinking along the lines of "If something is better than this, it isn't worth watching." That attitude doesn't make sense to me.
