Self Deprecation vs. "inb4 you insult me"
Comments
Pot kettle black.
I do not think that you should call people names for disagreeing with you. That seems kind of childish to me. Still, I do not really see the problem with the Sonic/Higurashi crossover either. I have seen far worse things than that.
Vorpy,
I see this on Deviant Art so much that it bugs me. It drives me to leave
comments on peoples pages pointing out that making a joke about
yourself and trying to get critics to not point out flaws in your
artwork by pointing it out first are completely different.
I am not totally sure if self-deprecation even makes sense in the context of artwork. In general, I do not find self-deprecating jokes to be very funny at all, both because I think they are often purposely used to encourage unnecessary gushing (and thus can be rather selfish) and because I often think they go too far. I guess I think they can be funny in certain contexts, but I suppose all of this stuff is your mileage may vary territory anyway.
I think it is fine to point out errors in your art so you already address it before a bunch of comments all say the same thing though.
I don't know if the crossover makes sense (everything I know about Amy Rose I know due to Sonichu), but even if it doesn't, that's hardly a serious blunder worth including in that collection, and there must be similar crossovers with bad art anyway.
Still, I would hold before calling people "weeaboo faggots" if I'm not sure why they did what they did.

the problem is most artists try to use it as a barrier to try and prevent people from critiquing their work negatively rather than gushing about it. It's just that, if I know stern critics, they don't give a fuck if you do point out something wrong with your art first, they are going to rephrase it and move to the next bad thing about it.
