They seem to be written in such a way to give the mods more power and restrict the users sometimes arbitrarily. Any situation that provides this much power to authority really scares me and makes me uneasy.

    Power. I'm of the disposition that it is not abuse of power that is the root problem it is power to abuse. Power begets abuse and if you ever allow power to concentrate it will create abuse inevitably. Honestly these days i'm not scared of terrorists I think they're the least of our problems.
