If you line up your target before you shoot it from long range, then you don't NEED the scope at all. The scope's there so you can line up a target at long range. This "quickscoping" thing is just retarded showboating for twelve-year-old retards who've never played a game other than COWADOODY.

    Actually in some games (Like TF2), firing a shot while scoped is inherently more accurate/damaging than firing a shot without the scope.

    The problem that causes people to get frustrated with snipers is that it doesn't really feel like you're engaging them in battle. You're just kind of a target and you have to make yourself a difficult one and hope the other guy doesn't get lucky or is a good shot. There's also the fact that you can't really see the effort and skill that it takes to snipe, you just see the results. It sure seems really cheap when all you know about the situation is that you step out and get gunned down in half a second.

    Then there's the people who look down on snipers who go for body shots. They say it doesn't take skill to do things that way, but really, you're a better sniper if you can properly judge your skill level and chances and use that to make the best of the situation. You're better off taking a chunk out of the guy's health than missing completely. And if the enemy is a class where HP is low enough for a body shot to be an instant kill anyway, you'd be an idiot to only aim for the smaller target.

    Hey, I'm an RPG man. Baldur's Gate II, Ultima, Mass Effect, THOSE are my babies. But every so often I play an FPS, and when I do I worry more about KILLING the enemy, rather than mucking about with fancy tricks that don't do anything. 

    And apparently you can get banned on some servers for using the scope properly. It's pathetic.

    I love playing the waiting game. I kill people with cheap tricks and as soon as I get killed by a sniper I sit in a corner the entire match until they get out of their perfect sniping position.
