Christians Who Do Discontinuity/Add Fanon to the Bible On The Bible
Look, I'm all for looking at various sources so you can make up your own mind about what God is, in fact I think that's everyone should do (even if the end result is that you decide that God is nothing).
But to pick and choose the parts of the Bible (or any other religious text) that suit you and discard the rest and STILL claim to be Christians seems a bit silly to me. I'm mean isn't there a whole big part in the Bible that more or less says "This book is the exact word of God and everything before and anything after is utter poppycock"?
I'm mean, I'm fine with someone who has come to their own terms with their faith but still thinks that worshiping using Christian (or Muslim or Jedi or whatever) traditions, but I don't think it's right to consider yourself a Christian.

Also, to be a "Christian" would imply adherence to the teachings of Christ. This is, exclusively, the New Testament.
Although, I'd qualify as Christian despite my atheism under that definition, so nyeh.
Given how old the Bible is and how many translations it's gone through, and all the apocryphal verses that have cropped up that may or may not be authentic, I'm not so sure I'd trust the regular Bible to begin with.
Still, that doesn't do much to justify picking the "gays are abominations" verse in Leviticus and then forgetting about the "don't eat crayfish, wear blended textiles, or breed mules" verses.
Also, inb4 the Book of Mormon.
