The idea of the Replacement Scrappy.
What's so bad about a new character coming in to fight alongside the main characters?
This trope annoys me, because it basically says that no new characters can come in. I always thought for my stories, that I can introduce new characters by making them the main character for a episode/chapter, and then they segue into being main characters. But this never seems to work.
For example, in the incredibly hypothetical and unlikely situation that I get the funds to make Full Auto a reality, I would want the first episode of the third season (Which is a WHAM Season) to be focused around a squadron of army recruits, who later meet with the already established cast and join them in the battle.
Except, if that did happen, I know what would happen: the fans would start screaming about spotlight-stealing and "DEY'R NOUT THE MIAN CARAKTERS" and "DEY TAKING OUR JERBS STEELAN DA SPOTLITE".
It's sad that if you want to make any kind of entertainment media, you have to bend over ass-backwards to appease the fans, which generally know jack shit about storytelling and generally fuck over the show with their jackass remarks.
Sigh.

having one to begin with isn't a good idea.
Actually, the trope is specifically for when an already-popular main character is removed from the show to allow a new character in. The problem isn't that people don't like new characters, it's that nobody wants their favorite character to suddenly disappear, especially if they're just going to get replaced by someone who fills the same role in the story, making the original character's disappearance seem pointless.
The rest of them just wound me up.
Scooby and Shaggy and their retarded antics, running screaming from what was ALWAYS an idiot in a mask, and somehow dressing up in stupid costumes to play games along the way.
And then those other entirely redundant bell-ends doing their own idiot-runs about the place and basically achieving nothing besides Velma always losing her glasses and taking that as a cue to drop everything else too, including ontological inertia, to scrabble about for them.
Scrappy was the only one who wanted to do the sensible thing and punch the stupid masked idiot senseless... even if he was probably too small to achieve it.
