I imagine RPG maker would make me not need to make any coding for the game. Unless I totally don't get what RPG Maker is.

Besides cutscenes and things like that, that's correct.

Oh, well maybe I can give it a bash then. I used to do sprite comics back in the day, so I can make the characters...hmmm might seriously consider this.

There actually kinda already is a JRPG. Actually, its a Tactics Ogre/Final Fantasy Tactics style game, but its pretty good even so.
