    The point is that you continually make threads when we all know your parents are crazy anyway. You ought to just keep one thread where you can chronicle your parents' baffling statements.

    The more reasonable conservatives who diss public education cite that there's little to show for improvement and may feel that parents ought to have the "liberty" of sending their child to a private school, with state-funded vouchers to pay for it.

    The less reasonable conservatives who diss public education feel some combination of the idea that public education is a state provision and thus socialist/communist and the idea that people ought to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps and if they don't succeed it's their own damn fault.
