It doesn't seem to prioritize whether the words show up in titles, or something. For example, putting "Vanilla's free service is shutting down" does not even have the thread with that title within the first page of results, and searching with "animu mango" doesn't get "animu/mango general" in the first page. What I'm trying to say is, searching based on thread title doesn't exactly work.

It searches based on hashtags and usernames used, I think.
You can use "@user username" and "@title title text" to search those specifically. For example, "@user millercross" or "@title search function".
Putting @ in front of a word just gives me no results. I think it looks for exact words, but not the exact order of words, so "@whatever" looks for specific occurrences of that.
Still, I'd rather be able to search based on titles of threads, since those are easier to remember.
No, you have to put the string "@title" to search for the words after that in thread titles.
For example,
@title real estate
should get you ITT: Evergreen talks about houses and real estate as one of your search results.
(ignore the fact that the forum system is turning the @stuff into a link. I just mean the text string by itself.)
I just run a "site:itjustbugsme.com" search on Google instead :V
IJBM's search function at least technically functions, which puts it a step of Heapers' Hangout's (nonexistent) search function...
