Twitter•Today at 1:06 PM
The popular tool fxtwitter, a thing for more effective embedding of tweets with videos into places like Discord, became broken.
People reported not being able to view tweets without being logged in, either.
Also, Elon Musk announced a new policy that accounts without Twitter Blue would be limited to seeing 600 tweets per day, and just 300 for new users without Twitter Blue.
yeah i don't think this is gonna help with the advertising revenue
hmmmmmm

Seems legit.
Yeah this whole thing is pretty weird but according to the NYT it's supposed to be temporary-ish maybe?
Personally I stopped trying to understand/care about Elon Musk a long time ago but the people legit simping for this new thing ("Well why are you complaining if you hate twitter so much!!!") are embarrassing.
Edit: oh hey I see Twitter embeds no longer work here. That includes both tweet embeds and image embeds. Even though they are working again on Discord for whatever reason.
Anyway, Twitter is now suing the law firm that formerly represented Twitter in the lawsuit that forced Elon Musk to buy Twitter.
Musk followed up this news item by insulting that law firm, calling them corrupt.

To be fair, this is not very lulzy. But it is Twitter-related.

Yeah, I mean, there will always be idiots, but it's not like they'll pop up regularly or frequently and be full of extremely bad ide-
guys help I really need to believe in free speech again
Also, a tweet is now "an X".
Someone made an observation:
> oh my god I just saw it pointed out that with this change, “twitter videos” now becomes “x videos”, which is the name of a porn site
Twitter is a really good name, I mean even Facebook didn't rename itself. I can't find anything official but it sounds like an Elon thing, I guess we'll just have to see?
The logo isn't even blue anymore.

Here's an extension that makes it possible to turn the X into a button you can click...to close it.

On 1 November 2022, someone asked whether Twitter would die or Cohost would run out of money first.

Only 23 July 2023, it was ruled that Twitter died first, on a technicality.

In case that image doesn't load, it's a screenshot of
a tweetan X from Linda Yaccarino, showing that the interface still has a "Tweet" button, an indicator of how many "Tweets" she has, and a box labeled "Search Twitter".---

Oh, apparently the X logo chosen for the rebranding is a public domain unicode symbol and thus can't be trademarked.

Also, I'm pretty sure having your trademark become genericized is something branding people seek to avoid.
