  • It's international. It's not gonna look like English, Bob, but on the plus side, if you ever see an IPA transcription of something in Russian or Vietnamese or Sanskrit or some other language you know nothing about, you can come reasonably close to pronouncing it right.
  • Man, if only there was a way to make writing the IPA easier and more elegant.

    Something that looks a lot like the Latin alphabet we all know and love, but is really a concise representation of what the IPA is all about.

  • I learned IPA, or at least enough of it to get English words, about a year ago. It didn't take long to forget much of it.
