    What? what value does life have if you are a slave? if you are in a situation where you can not act freely?

    While I certainly agree with you that liberty is great, I think that even slaves have a certain sense of individuality since they still are people and thus their lives still have value. I believe that enslaved peoples have still been able to do some pretty important things too (the slave spiritual foundations of various kinds of contemporary music to name one example).

    Plus, I do not really understand how life completely loses its value once one loses freedom. I would not choose some "noble" route of dying rather than living in less than complete liberty. I value self-preservation too highly to do something like that and I think that once someone loses liberty it can be recovered later. I think that giving up on life when one lacks freedom forever robs one of the ability to gain it back.

    WHat matters to them matters is completely different from our superior minds. Animals are savage and of lower intelligence. Humans are filled with reason (well, 90% of them refuse to use it, but it's there) and intelligence.
