The Bechdel Test

Comments

  • The bechdel test should generally be dealt with Bayonetta-style.

i.e. Minimal dialog and maximal cat-fight... with guns.... and demon-hair...  also motorcycles.
  • Related IJBM: Why is it three steps to pass, when each step implies the previous ones were met? Why not keep it simple and make it one? Are there consolation Bechdel points for passing some?

    RE-ANIMATOR
Do you suppose saying that I want to pass the bechdel test will help me get an MFF threesome? Then afterwards we can all discuss Pokémon for victory.

no longer cuddly, but still Edmond
If Pratt's statement is a reflection of what most writers actually think, then it would really only discredit anyone who ever invokes the trope ever.

    Shit, he's onto my scheme.

Also, you do realize you don't in any way look clever by saying "Pratt" when you mean "Edmond," right?
  • They're somethin' else.
    Tee hee
  • You can change. You can.
Personally, I think the test is bullshit, but it is valid commentary. Basically, movies and writers shouldn't strive to meet the exact same conditions of the test, but should strive to follow what the strip meant when it was published (Women should get stronger roles in movies that aren't just related to the opposite sex in one way or the other)
  • They're somethin' else.
^ Basically. I won't bend over backwards for it, but I'll acknowledge it.
  • How many people here have actually read the comic in which the Bechdel Test is discussed? *raises hand*
